Bra Recycling Fund Raising Event
1st February 2008 to 1st April 2008
This event is a great example of women working for women enriching the lives of those who have little or nothing at all, by recycling your unwanted bras, worn or new, we can have a positive impact on the lives of those women. All funds raised will go to The Lilian Elizabeth Fund who are raising money to build a medical centre in a village called Sika in the Gambia. (www.lilianelizabeth.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk).
Working in conjunction with The Soroptimists International (www.soroptimist-gbi.org) and BCR Global Textile Recycling, Image Innovators are delighted to be organising the Bra Bra Black Sheep Event.
BCR pay £1 per kilo of bras collected, so ladies this is your opportunity to sort through your lingerie drawers and donate those unwanted bras to this great cause. You can involve your girlfriends and collect on our behalf. If you are a company and would be willing to have a collection bin on your premises we can arrange to deliver a bin to you quickly - we will even collect it when it's full!
The collected bras are sorted and graded:-
- Those in great condition are given to ladies in third world countries who do not have access to bra support.
- Bras are baled and given to very poor families so they can support themselves by selling them in the market place.
- Bras that are beyond wear are stripped down and each part is recycled.

Fashion lovers and shoppers are invited to take their designer and quality high street clothes and accessories to the first ever Swap & Shop event in Gloucestershire. Image Innovators clients are very conscientious, every year in the UK 900,000 milion items of clothing, shoes and accessories are thrown away and we, along with TRAID, believe that some things are just too good to go to waste. Bring along your good quality unloved clothes and sell or swap them with each other. Our challenge from Green World Recycling is to fill their textile recycling bin with our unwanted clothing and all the proceeds from that bin will go to The Gaia-Movement Trust Living Earth - come on ladies, sort out those wardrobes and help us to succeed in this challenge.
