Face Facts

"The best thing is to look natural, but it takes make-up to look natural."

Calvin Klein Couturier

Your face is probably the most important part of your body.  It's often the first thing we notice about someone, whether in a business meeting or across a crowded room.

If you're like me than you'll probably only notice "bad" bits.  Your concentration will be on whether you have more wrinkles, bags under your eyes or spots.

Understanding the shape of your face and your features will help you flatter what nature gave you.  This in turn will enhance your natural beauty and good looks.  You'll be able to choose hairstyles, specs and jewellery that really do you justice and keep you looking up to date.  The shape of your face and your neck length will determine what styles of necklines will flatter the vital "V". Come this way "let's discover your vital "V".

Hair Raising

"I think the most important thing a woman can have - next to talent of course - is her hairdresser."

Joan Crawford, Actress

Your hair is your shining glory.  I think it's fair to say that if we have a bad hair day we feel out of sorts..  We know logically that we can restyle it or that it will grow again but it seems that it might take a lifetime to do so!

How long is it since you had a good look at your hair?  Is the style current?  Does it suit you or have you not changed it for a number of years?  Do you have it coloured or highlighted?  Is it manageable? Does it suit your lifestyle?

A good hairdresser will ask all of these questions and more.  To ensure that the hair is in proportion to your height, a professional hairstylist should ask you to stand up before making any decision about the style and cut.

It's vital that your hair suits your lifestyle.  You don't want a complicated creation if you have small children to look after or you are a 'wash and go' type of woman.  So make sure that your hairdresser understands this.

The shape of your face can also help you decide which way to wear your hair.  A rounder, contoured face needs a softer style.  If you have cheekbones and are more angled, you can sport a sharper look.  A long, thin face can benefit from hair with width.  A short, wide face needs height on top or a longer length to create slimness and length. (Find out more during your EveryBody Style consultation).

Long faces

Best suit hairstyles that provide some width.  A high ponytail or lots of hair on top of the head will only add to the illusion of length, as will very long straight hair.

Wide faces

These need to look longer so hairstyles with height on the top or length at the bottom will help.

Square jaws

They can be complemented by long styles and a side fringe.  A jaw length bob and a straight fringe can appear a little like curtains in a window frame.
